Happy Birthday to Kevin Collins, who made his major league debut with the 1965 New York Mets and later played for the Expos and Tigers. Two months in to the 1969 season, the Mets traded Kevin, along with Steve Renko and two minor leaguers, to Montreal for Donn Clendenon. Donn would play a key role in the miracle World Championship of that season. I never got to pitch against Kevin, but I always respected him after hearing how he spent some time back in the minors after the Tigers traded him to Cleveland and then left the game to take a job in Michigan because his daughter was starting school. Good guy.
