Happy Birthday, Dan Meyer

Dan MeyerHappy Birthday to Dan Meyer, who played for the Tigers, Mariners and A’s in a career that spanned from 1974 to 1985.  The first time I ever saw Dan was April 22, 1975, when the Tigers were playing the Indians.  He went 2-for-4 against Gaylord Perry.  The next day, he went 0-for-4 against Jim Perry. I didn’t face Dan until September 7, when he went 1-for-4 against me.  We beat the Tigers 9-0 off some great hitting by Boog Powell, Oscar Gamble, Rick Manning and Duane Kuiper.  Oscar and Boog both hit first inning Triples – you don’t see that every day. That shutout and complete game brought me to 12-7.
